I can admit that I have a little Owl obsession ...
But that's ok!

This here is Hootie!
My first little owl... Welcome to the family Hootie!
You will be much loved!
Until my kids somehow manage to pull the stuffing out of you!

Hootie is made from scraps of material and felt, 2 random buttons and his stuffing is an old pillow I was going to throw out! So if you have an old pillow and some material laying around ... be excited!
I have more EASY patterns and idea's coming!

Again, I'll have this pattern up soon!

Choc Chip Oreo Cookies

A close friend of mine gave this recipe to me ....
I love her....

Chocolate Chip Oreo Cookies

***

135g Butter (or 1 stick of butter OR 1/2 cup butter)
6 tbsp Sugar
6 tbsp Brown Sugar
1 egg
1/2 tsp Vanilla
1 1/4 Cup SR Flour
1/2 tsp Baking Soda
1/2 Salt
8 Broken Oreo's
1 Cup choc Chips

Turn your oven on - this helps! 180deg
Cream butter & Sugar
Add egg & Vanilla
Combine in a bowl flour, Soda and Salt
Mix in and add the Oreo's
(OF COURSE you can eat what's left in the packet)
It's a rule we all have to follow you know!
Add choc chips and stir stir stir...
Scoop spoon fulls on tray and bake for approx. 9 min

Take them out and let sit, then eat them all...
repeat process ...

Easter Idea's

I made this cute little bunny ...
She is meant to be holding an Easter Egg ...
though I hold no responsibility of the where a bout's of that egg!

Very simple!
And when I can find it, I will add the instructions to this post!
You will need some calico, wadding (old pillow), Pen, pretty material, sewing machine and there is some hand sewing included ... but again, its all easy!

My sister and her family visited us recently and she bought me these CUTE as wooden Easter eggs to hang on the tree she palmed off to me at Christmas!

Easter Cake Pops

I sat up last night until 1.30am making 40 cake pops for my daughter to take to school for her class.....

I'm not sure if I'm feeling SO TIRED that I'm moving onto hysterical laughter or if it's the amount of left over chocolate I managed to shove down my throat !!!

either way ... ENJOY!

1 Chocolate Cake, Cook to directions - lick the bowl
Crumble cake into smithereens
Mix in approx. 1/2 cup of (made) chocolate icing sugar
Mix like you have never mixed before - lick the spoon
Roll into balls - lick hands
Stick in the freezer until hard ... much easier working with hard balls! Ummm ok
Melt 1.5 blocks of milk chocolate - eat remaining .5
By this stage you will be pretty wired... so have a drink of milk!
Stick your stick in and dip in chocolate, a spoon helps!
Drain off excess and dip in annoying 100's & 1000's
Feel free to lick the spoon again - because you now have to pick up all the 100's & 1000's off the floor you just spilt!
Sit on baking tray with baking paper - do NOT bake!
Place in fridge to set - tie bows around sticks or just skip that bit and eat!

To the parents - Enjoy your wired little kid for the beginning of the school holidays!
no no ... don't thank me! ANYTIME!

The "Pillowcase" Dress

Last night I made Rylie this "Pillowcase Dress"!
It's Teddy Bear & Purple day at school and she didn't have anything to wear!
Not to worry... Mummy will save the day!

Of course she had to have a matching hair accessory and Teddy a matching scarf!

Not too bad for a 50c pillow case from an op-shop, some material by "Heidi Grace Designs" from a SUPER sweet gal in California and some crocheted flowers and old buttons in the button tin!

{Sunbeam Stamps} - Temple Marriage Card

This card was fun to make! Now if only someone was getting married!
I used pieces out of my scrap box for this one, so telling you what paper I used is a little tricky!
But basically some card stock, patterned paper, pink ribbon, 2 black brads, black ink square, Vellum, Kaiser Rub on which I used my NEW favorite Quickie Glue Pen on and some unreal black "Superfine Glitter" by Celebrations of Australia!

If you don't have a Quickie Glue Pen or some Superfine Glitter.... go get some!

If you are using a pattern just make sure you line
it up straight before you staple 1048 staples into it like someone I know ...

Well close to it but not quite...

I Have had SO MUCH going on of late (I'm sick, going through house reno's, new baby, teaching scrapbooking classes etc) that I have to organise myself better! I only have about 8 loads of washing to fold now lol and about 4 to wash! and after that is done I promised myself some ME time ... and updating this blog I WILL!

So sit tight ... I'll have something up very SOON!

RECIPE Books !!!

I am a bit of a nutter when it comes to Recipe Books! What can I say! I LOVE making them! This one here is for my mum, who has been pestering me for some recipes for a while that I make at home! Its basically 2 pieces of cardboard, covered in paper, decorated and I punched some holes in it to put the rings on! Now all I have to do it type up the recipes, laminate them and stick em in!

Another Gift Bag

This Little Bag was pretty easy to make once you have your measurements sorted out. All depending on the size of the little jar or baggy you want to use for inside, is what deturmines the measurements.

1. You take 2 pieces of paper and make them the same size for instance mine were 20cm in length by 8cm wide. I then scored them at 4.5cm, 13.5 and 16cm. Should look like this! The left hand side is the TOP of your bag an the right is the bottom of your bag.
The Bottom end of your bag is where we place either your double sided tape or glue! Then you grab your other length of paper and stick it on there to make the base of your bag!
(so you have a double layer effect to hold you goodies)

Like this ....

Once you have done that, take another strip of card to make the little do-dad that will hold your goodies in! My strip was 22cm. Score this at 3cm, 7cm, 15cm and 19cm to make it look like so...
Place your glue/double sided tape on the two shorter ends as shown here ...

Then place them on one side of your bag! to make a little bracket type thing! I'm so good with words huh!!! A little advice, if you are wanting to decorate this strip do it BEFORE you stick it on! It can be a tad fiddley!

Place your little jar or baggy of goodness in like so...

And bring the other side of the bag up, punch 2 holes in the top and thread some ribbon or string through to tie it all up! Make a little decoration for the front and you got yourself a funky lil bag!
Remember that this is just a rough guide to what I did. It all depends on how wide your jar is or if using a baggy it doesn't have to be a very wide strip that you cut! Have a go, its not too daunting and it makes more sense when you do it yourself!

Family History Project

For a long time now I have been BUSTING to do a Family History Album, but never knew where to start or how to go about it! SURE its easy you might think, but you TRY gathering names and dates and figure out what linage you will follow or if you will do 2 grandparents from each side, it really just does go on and on!

So I have started to PLAN this out!
So far I have:

8 Photographs from my mum, who has the originals and I have the scanned copies! Full

NAMES and DATES of their BIRTHS, DEATHS & MARRIAGES

I have collected 12x12 papers that will best suit these time era's & will be looking for a nice D-Ring album to suit this project !

Look at my Pop, isn't he a spunk!
I am SO EXCITED to start this! As I am trying to cover both sides of my husband and my families, It will be tricky to have the album set out in the right order. I am doing this for my children so they get to know the generations gone before them. My family have so many stories about family members that I think it would be a shame not to remember them, how they met and fell in love etc...

Now since I am 40 weeks and 1 day pregnant lol This may take a while, and thats ok, I will be doing a baby album at the same time as well as adjusting to having 3 little girls! So bare with me!

It will be a fun ride! and I will be sharing every step of the way so if anyone out there wants to try the same thing, they can get helpful tips on what makes this an easy fun project to do.

On the weekend I had a Stampin Up party. My friend Sandy has just become a demonstrator and I thought it would be fun being her first party!! Nothing like having some great friends over and being shown some great scrapbooking/Cardmaking techniques! Not to mention the yummy stamps! ohh I love stamps right now!

Any who ... Sandy showed us how to make these SUPER EASY gift boxes! SO COOL that I had trouble doing it hahah (No comment Sandy) and this funky as Card!

The flower on this card spins when you tilt the card!
Who knew a 5c coin could be so handy!

Here is the gift box I made later on when I got right and the Sunny Boy Box !!! I made this one for a friend I Visit Teach! (Church thing) and will be filling it with goodies and this months message!

And this one, though the same colours! These are my hubbies VALENTINES gifts! Well part of it! Again I'll fill them with goodies and a little love note lol Depending on what mood I'm in when I write it haha!

I don't know about you but I know I LOVE it when people make me stuff! And I know my mum does too! Every year I have a tradition for my mum that I make her something for Mothers Day! I find its much more fun! So when it came to my close friend Sandys birthday! I thought she might like something made especially for her also! I made her the card and a little tag book, that had each letter in her name and a little saying that went with each letter about her!

The IKEA Trip

Yesterday was definantely a big day for me! Since it was Sandy Pandy's Birthday! We thought we would take a trip into IKEA! about a 45 min drive for us! But ohhhh it was worth it! After we stopped drooling and picked up our chins up! We managed to take a look on every floor and grab a few goodies on the way! These were the things I came up with towards STORAGE!

These Cute jars were 4 for $2.50! So of course I had to get 3 packs!

This Wire basket was $2.50 from Storage World, I also grabbed a bigger one to hold all my stickers and rub ons for $11 .... One little pit stop before we left the shopping centre!AND there is this! No I didn't get to buy it on this trip! BUT It is what I plan to buy the NEXT trip along with storage baskets to store and HIDE all my scrapbooking stuff!

Now just to tell the hubby !!!

Creative Soul Challenge # 1

I haven't done a challenge for a while now! So I think it's time I got one happening!
Hows about this....

"Something OLD, Something NEW, Something BORROWED, Something BLUE"

You have to use something OLD : This could be scrap paper you have never used, an embellishment you have held on to forever but just cant seem to stick anywhere! A photo you have laying around that never quite made it to the project !!!

You have to use something NEW: Easy right? bought anything recently? Perhaps you have taken a photo of something you bought like a new handbag or something you for for Christmas!? A picture of a new born baby!

Something BORROWED: This may be a tough one! BUT .... you can work it! Did you borrow something off someone ever and not give it back? naughty you haaa Take a photo of it and show us! I won't tell anyone lol Or if you are doing a wedding page, show us what you borrowed! Think outside the box for this one ...

Something BLUE: Ok ONE MAIN COLOUR .... "BLUE" it is! you can have other colours but majority has to be blue, can be teal, aqua, sky blue, dark blue....you get it right?

Ok thats it ! Go for it! Due date for this project will be 31st JAN (AEST) .... Don't forget to post your links to your projects in the comments section so we can all have a looksy!

Renaming Project 365 ...

Ok, So today I have decided on a few definants ...

I will be using & customizing the D-Ring "Modernalbum" by American Crafts

I will be going with the October Afternoon papers

I will be using coloured StazOn Ink to stamp on clear acetate paper the Month dividers

I will be still using 12x12 slips along with other various sizes for journaling
I will be making up my own journaling cards
I will be using some sort of digital element to name and date my images
and last but not least ... I will be folding the 3 baskets of clean washing sitting in my lounge room!

On Saturday I happen to drop into my local $2 shop (where nothing is $2 lol) and came across this cookie jar! They have the same idea in the Stampin Up catelogue, So I thought I'd give it a go!

Made up my "Stamps" label and off we went! Not much to it really, but my jar was $11 and THAT is cool!
Products Used: The Tag I used is from October Afternoon, Bazzil Card stock & Versa Color Ink.

This is the $3 Stand I bought for showing off my Project 365! Again, another great buy! I plan on going back on Monday and getting me a few more!

My Project 365 In the Making ....

Today I hauled my pregnant butt and my 2 kids to my favourite scrapbook store and spent me a little money! In hope that I can create my very own Project 365! I'm not sure how long I could wait to see if the kit was going to be available here in Aus. So my good pal Sandy over on Scrappy Habits there, came with me and we brain stormed!

It's late here right now and I didn't get a chance to take a photo of the goodies I bought today so stay tuned for tomorrows blog post cause I'm going to run the whole plan by you! And if you have ANY idea's that can help me out, feel free to leave a comment, I have been blog hopping for a few days now and have found some really creative ppl out there!

So I hope all of you that were able to get the kit enjoy it! In the mean time I'll be scrappin away here!

Melanys "Keepin it together" Pegs!

Well since Sandy and I kinda missed the boat on the Project 365 Kit of the month (for this week anyway) Crazy people sold out and the whole site went down! AND us Aussies have to PHONE to order the kit, after hearing a few stories of ppl trying to call in we thought we'd wait and see what the plan is to get us one each!

Anywho In the mean time, Becky H keeps saying we CAN do this without the kit! I'm finding it hard but here is my effort... I made these Keepin it together" peg clips! So I can print out my pics and journal on scrap paper and keep it all together in order! until we can get our hands on these kits!

HOW TO MAKE:

VERY simple to make! Just get 7 plain pegs, you can either paint them or leave them raw! Cut out or punch some cardstock and decorate how ever you like! I used chipboard letters for one set and alpha stickers for the other, then label the days of the week.

I'm not sure if anyone has done this before, I'm sure they have but this was my bright idea for yesty! You could also stick a magnet on the back and use them on your fridge! Cute gifts!

Thanks to my best Scrappin Sistah Sandy and her ability to find new and cool ideas to keep us amused for months on end... She has introduced me to the new Kit of the Month called 
"Project 365"
This is what it looks like ....

In this kit you get everything you see here and I have to say I'm impressed! If you ever wanted to start scrapbooking but didnt think you could keep up with the whole effort that it can be! THIS is the perfect place to start! You can pick ANY THEME you want! I've chosen myself, like a personal diary that will no doubt cover my family! ALL you have to do is take one Photo each day and stick it in the folder! You can either journal or not! For all the goss on this kit keep up to date with Becky Higgins blog, she is covering it from front to back! The kits come on sale in the states on the 1st Jan! I'm ready to grab me one (well Sandy is lol) Will keep you up to date on how I go with this project!

Christmas Eve BBQ Apron Invites

These were so fun to make! We are having some family and a few close friends for a BBQ on Christmas Eve, sparklers, kids, good food, its going to be great! So I thought I would make some invites for the occasion! And well basically cause I'm obsessed with making stuff as most of my friends with tell you!

I was able to use an embosser (thanks mum) and embossing powder! I hadn't used it before for anything and I think I am now obsessed with another technique!

Another Kaiser Craft pack! You get 5 little gingerbread men ($5.95)in this pack, and they are SO cute! I used one of the Kaiser Christmas paper sets to decorate these, buttons and ribbon!

The Christmas Banner

THIS is so easy! It took me an hour if that (if you don't include the time I was talking in between making it). It's on the plain side, embellishment wise, but the paper and letters themselves stand out enough, but feel free to go nuts on it!

I cut out the background (bazzil card stock), patterned paper 1/2 cm smaller! (Depends on how big you want your banner). I used my Cricut machine to cut out the letters and used "Dimensional Magic" to give it that wet dimensional look, though you can use chipboard or stickers! I have used swirl chipboard I painted and again used the Dimensional Magic (great stuff)! Kindy Glitz Glitter on the chipboard for a bit of bling... Punched holes in each card and threaded black ribbon through and tied a bow on either end!

And there ya go... Not too bad, not too bad at all!

Desk Calender

When I was at Scrappy Hollows latest sale, going crazy in the 30 min I had there I managed to come across this awesome Desk Calender by Kaiser Craft. It's not finished yet! But it's going to sit there until I decide on what I want to use for the months and dates! Not sure If i will go the stamps, Vinyl or wood letters ... What do you reakon?

This pack was pretty cheap, You get the calender all cut etc and you just decorate it! GREAT idea for Chrissy Pressy!

It's not meant to look that blank! hehe When I can actually make a decision, it will look more like a calender!

Quick run down... I glued the paper on, sanded the edges down. Painted the edge with a brown paint, added the painted swirls and pearls and that's about it! It really is that simple!

Over a year ago my little family & I went to Echuca for a weekend and found ourselves amongst the Echuca Steam Boat Festival! It was an awesome weekend! It was just a cheap get away, but it was so much fun, and I have been busting to start the album for it.

Christmas Is Coming

I have SO MANY idea's for CHRISTMAS this year! I will admit some of them are not my own! I have been blog hopping and came across some GREAT home made Christmas decorations! So I'll be posting some of the things I am making over the next few weeks along with where I got the idea! As for this one, here is my trial Christmas Bauble! CUTE huh! I got this from Kaiser Craft and I'm still yet to make the REAL ones, here is my practice one any way...

I also have on the TO DO list - Make felt white doves to sit in the Christmas tree, I am half way through making a "CHRISTMAS" Banner to hang on the wall and I believe I have a Christmas card making day with the girls coming up soon, so I will be sure to post them also!

I'll have instructions on how to make everything so keep an eye out the next few weeks!

Today I think I got my MoJo back! I actually FINISHED a layout in a few hours! I'm so proud! This is the 2nd last page left in Indi's baby album ... tomorrow I plan to do the final page...
